Privacy
The short version: we collect nothing about you personally, nothing at all unless you agree, and two of the most revealing things you could do here — searching, and telling the finder about your life — are structurally incapable of leaving your browser.
What you type into search. The whole search index is downloaded to your device, and the matching happens there. This site has nowhere to receive a search, so there is nowhere for what you type to be sent, even in principle.
Your answers in the hobby finder. The whole catalogue is embedded in that page and the matching is arithmetic done locally. Your budget, your living situation, whether you have children and what you want out of your life are not submitted anywhere, because there is nothing to submit them to.
Everything you type into a calculator. Same reason. Every tool here does its arithmetic on your own device and sends nothing back.
With your consent, we would like to know which activities and which sections of activities people actually read, which finder criteria get used, and how often search finds nothing. That last one is the single most useful number for deciding what to write next.
What we are able to record at all is a short, fixed list, and it cannot be extended without deliberately changing the site. Each item carries only our own public labels — which activity, which section, how many results — and anything resembling a sentence you have written is rejected before it can leave your device. For search we record only roughly how long the query was, how many results it found, and whether it found any at all. There is nowhere in that list to put what you actually typed.
We do not collect names, email addresses, accounts, device fingerprints or any cross-site identifier. There is no login, so there is no profile.
Analytics is switched on here and waiting for your decision. If you agree below, those same events go to the destinations listed here and nowhere else. Nothing is loaded and nothing is sent before you decide.
- HEKNO Analytics, the measurement platform run by HEKNO, which publishes this site. This is first-party: the events do not leave the organisation that published this page. They are sent from your browser as they happen, with no script loaded and nothing added to the document. They carry no identifier of any kind — no session, no anonymous id, no cookie — and the page address is sent as a path with the query string and anything after a
#removed before it leaves your device. Where you arrived from is reduced to a category — a search engine, a social site, another page here — and the address itself is never held. - Google Analytics 4, operated by Google. A third party. The measurement script is not in this page and is only added to the document if you say yes. It receives the same closed list of events and no wider payload. Advertising personalisation and Google’s cross-site signals are switched off in the configuration, and the address is truncated. If you change your mind we set Google’s own disable flag as well as stopping our own sends, because a tag that has already loaded cannot be reliably removed and we would rather turn it off than claim to have deleted it.
The site is built to carry occasional discreet advertising through a central platform, with limits set here rather than by the advertiser. No placement is ever requested unless you have agreed to it. Interstitials, pop-ups, overlays and anything between a calculator’s inputs and its result are not turned off — they are shapes this site cannot produce.
Pages carrying a safety or legal warning are never commercially eligible. Somebody reading about knife law, silica dust or cold water incapacitation is not an advertising opportunity. Those pages are marked as such in a way that holds automatically, rather than depending on an editor noticing each time.
No advertising provider is currently connected, so no placements are shown.
Before you decide, and if you say no: we store one thing, and it is your answer to the privacy question, kept in your browser’s local storage. It is not a cookie, carries no identifier, and is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data removes it and you will be asked again. Nothing else is stored, and HobbyHQ itself sets no cookies at all — there is no session, no login and no server that could set one.
If you say yes: the Google Analytics tag sets its own cookies once it loads, which is how it counts a returning visit as the same visit rather than a new one. They belong to Google rather than to us, and they are the reason your choice is asked as a question rather than assumed. They are set only after you agree, they are not set at all if you decline, and declining later stops us sending anything further — though the cookies Google has already set are removed by clearing your browser data rather than by us, because we cannot reach into another party’s storage and would rather say so than imply we had deleted something we had not.
HEKNO Analytics, the measurement platform run by HEKNO, which publishes this site stores nothing on your device. It sets no cookie and loads no script. Events are posted as they happen and carry no identifier, which means there is nothing for it to remember you by — and that is a property of how it is built rather than a setting somebody could change.
Current status: You have not agreed to analytics, so nothing is loaded and nothing is sent.

Privacy law differs from country to country, and the rights you have depend on where you live rather than on where we are. Rather than list one country’s rules and quietly treat them as everyone’s, the position we hold everywhere is this: we do not know who you are, we hold nothing that identifies you, and there is no account or profile to request, correct or delete. If you want to ask us anything about that — including exercising a right you have locally — write to us and we will answer.
You can reach us through the contact page. If you want to change your mind about analytics, you do not need to write to anybody: the controls above take effect immediately.
