Terms
Plainly, and without the sections that exist only to be unreadable.
HobbyHQ is an informational reference published by HEKNO. It is free to read, requires no account, and is provided as it is.
A great many activities covered here carry genuine risk. Some involve blades, kilns, open flame, chemicals, electricity, weapons, open water, heights, traffic, animals or considerable physical load. We describe those risks and we are not a substitute for managing them.
Where an activity has a governing body, a licensing regime, a manufacturer’s instructions or a recognised qualification, those take precedence over anything on this site, without exception. Where we summarise a rule or a safety requirement, the source is authoritative and we are not. Get qualified instruction for anything you are not competent at. You are responsible for your own decisions about what you attempt.
Nothing here is medical, veterinary, legal or financial advice.
Several activities here involve real legal duties — knife carrying, treasure reporting, protected wildlife, scheduled monuments, land access, licensing. We set out which duties exist and which body owns each one, and link to the primary sources.
That is orientation, not legal advice. The law differs between England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland; it is amended; and it turns on facts about your specific situation that we do not know. Check the current primary source, and take advice where the consequences matter.
Every cost band, session length, difficulty rating and running cost on this site is an editorial estimate, described as such, and reflects typical UK conditions at the last review date shown on the page. They are intended for comparing activities with one another. They are not quotations, they will be wrong for any specific purchase, and they should not be relied on for budgeting.
More on what those figures mean and what they cannot tell you is on how this works.
We take accuracy seriously and we will still get things wrong. Rules change, prices change, and law is amended. Every page carries a last-reviewed date and every sourced claim shows what it is sourced to and whether an editor has verified that source.
Content may change or be removed at any time. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for loss arising from reliance on this site.
The text, structure and assessments on this site are ours. Quote us with attribution and a link; do not republish pages wholesale or scrape the catalogue.
Sources we cite belong to their publishers. We describe what they say in our own words and link to them; we do not reproduce them.
For anything on this page — a licensing question, a reuse request, or a disagreement with something we have published — the contact page has the address. If what you want to report is that a fact is wrong, the corrections page gets it acted on faster.
